Laptop Deals 2018

There has never been a better time to buy a laptop. But a good deal is only a good deal if you get the laptop you want: right brand, right specs. If you want to score a great deal on a laptop, here's what to look out for today.

Laptops: Windows, MacBook, Chromebook

Most likely you will be in the market for a Windows laptop, and this is where most of the variety and laptop bargains can be found. You can find a decent Windows laptop from around £200, or a great performance portable PC from upwards of £1,000. As ever, decide what spec and features you want in advance, and look for a good deal.

Don't be seduced by a low price. Famous brand names are always worth considering for the better quality of after care. And buying from a reputable outlet makes sense too.

Alternative options include Apple's MacBooks, and the Google Chromebook range. MacBooks are classic Apple products: precision engineered quality and great performance, at a high price and locked into Apple's software ecosystem. Chromebooks offer something different: a cut-down laptop experience that operates on Google's own platform in the cloud. Chromebooks are great bargains only if you can get by using only Google Docs.

Laptop specification

The key to getting a bargain laptop is to consider for what you want the device. If it is gaming you need to invest in a high calibre graphics set up, a quality Intel processor and lots of RAM. But if you need a basic web browsing and office device any multi-core processor and 2GB RAM will probably do the job. Be sure to consider screen quality, as you will spend a lot of time looking at it!
