It’s no secret that manufacturers often use amazing deals to shift outdated or lacklustre TVs that aren’t selling otherwise - so it’s always a good plan to do your research ahead of time to ensure you’re getting a gourmet TV at fast-food prices; and not the other way around. If you want to score a great deal on a TV, here’s what to look out for. 

Smart TV - a smart purchase?

Samsung, LG, Sony and other manufacturers want you to have their latest and greatest, which often means dealing with their baked-in Smart TV functionality. However, these systems aren’t to everyone’s tastes, and can often be easily replaced with a Chromecast, Apple TV, or a Fire TV Stick. If you’re happy to bring your own Smart TV functionality, you can score a killer panel at a much cheaper price. 

Are you ready for 4K?

The best deals will be reserved for 4K TV sets. But unless you have Sky, BT TV, or a fast fibre broadband connection all those pixels will be going to waste. Many terrestrial channels are now broadcasting in HD - 4K’s older sibling - but it’ll be many years before 4K comes to the public airwaves.
