iMac 27 2010 blows power lead fuse while sleeping

  Francis 16:34 09 May 2019

My iMac blows fuses in the power lead while asleep. I assume it is doing so when it wakes to index or run backups. The surge is coming from the machine to the plug. I had it plugged into a lead which had a 5amp fuse, and that did not blow, the 13amp one in the plug did (twice). I have tried a different lead and a different power source. Does anyone have any ideas? The machine runs fine provided it does not go to sleep, but I am fearful about using it while I have no idea what is happening.
