Has anyone else noticed the lack of feedback on TA

I have tried to help people on the TA Forum several times now and quite a few times the thread just died with no feedback (FB) or a 'Thank you' so I was wondering if other regular helpful subscribers (you know who you are) to the TA Forum have noticed this? I can only think of two reasons for no FB: - 1. The OP can't give FB due to becoming ill and no longer uses their Device. 2. The advice worked and 'I am now sorted but I can't be bothered to give a 'thank you' or FB even though it would help other users with the same issue'. In other words selfish.

I used to enjoy trying to help people on this Forum but I am finding it harder to find the motivation these days due to lack of appreciation. Am I expecting too much? Maybe I am living in the past but the fact remains that if one says 'Thank you' then you will be only too happy to help again. Are other regular helpers affected by this lack of FB?

I agree with you, I am finding it frustrating that there is very little feedback. I often suggest fixes, or workarounds, and would like to know if they worked, for future reference!!

As far as I remember, it was always thus.

many of the problems are solved when they reboot their Computer. Sometimes it is one of our responses that does the business, but once solved, they forget it ever happened

I agree with wee eddie.

This has been raised many times before and will undoubtedly be raised again.

I now very rarely offer help to any user that is not familiar. I find it especially annoying when I, or someone else, ask for additional information, to facilitate helping the OP and the OP doesn't bother answer. I have also noticed a number of people asking for help choosing a new PC or components and the OP appears not to want to put any effort in to help themselves, instead expecting one of us to do all the donkey work for them.

What do you expect? We live in a world where nowadays if you let someone out from a side road; 9 out of 10 times, off they go without a thanks or any acknowledgement.

And don't get me started on opening doors for others.

That aside, many of the users asking for help have requested it elsewhere as well as here.

While in an ideal world it would be nice to know something worked, chances are we won't know what resolution they have used to solve an issue.

It's just one of those things where you give a few suggestions and move on without thinking about it.

Thanks to everyone for the FB (smile). It's nice to know it isn't just me but don't you find yourself wondering "Why do I bother?"

I do it for the challenge. I am not an expert, never was. Even in the days of DOS Screen Computing, I needed help now and again.

I also try to read between the lines when a request seems to make no sense

"Why do I bother?"

because its better than going out and getting some exercise :0)

Only need one person to say thanks makes up for the rest that don't bother to reply.

"Am I expecting too much?"

I'm afraid you are - that's the way it is on the internet. People know that they are anonymous, and that there can be no repercussions, so they don't see the point of thanking you. All online help forums have the same situation.

As others have said, it has been like this for many years and we have discussed it on numerous occasions. It's life, I'm afraid.

Unfortunately this is the case. Most rude and ungrateful.
