Who will you blame for a no-deal Brexit?

  Quickbeam 17:47 23 Jul 2018

Hunt seems convinced that we'll all blame the EU.

Personally I'll lay the blame at the feet of weak government and wobbly opposition...

I think that there would be no doubt that in that scenario, the present government would certainly be the fall guy at the next election.

Jeremy Hunt's 'No Deal by Accident' outburst seems to imply that no one will be to blame, especially T May & Co.

I blame Cameron.

The referendum should never have been held and everything that has happened since convinces me that my vote was correct and the majority were wrong.

I agree with Pine Man. However now we are here, I would blame the little Englanders, Jingoistic people like Rees Mogg, Bone, Boris, Redwood, IDS et al who seem almost to want a hard Brexit. Few have had "proper" jobs in industry etc , and seem to have no idea of the chaos that would ensue from a crash out. . This is a time for compromise and cross party unity - an impossible dream. There is a slim hope that the Chequers proposal will succeed. Cameron was wrong, but like Major he was pushed by the "bas*dards" like the above. Momentum want out because the EU does not "allow" nationalisation.

It is not May's fault as the great democracy we live in instructed the government to leave.

I am an unrepentant remainer and agree with the last post that Cameron is to blame for a referendum which was far too simplistic and ill thought out to be the justification for the way brexit is being handled by both sides. Barnier is an unrepentant negotiator who wants to punish the UK and the current government is too divided to produce a united and sensible approach. We are being held to ransom by the hard brexiteers who certainly in my view do not represent the majority of the electorate. To harp on back to a referendum which was flawed from the start and designed by Cameron to settle issues within the conservative party is ridiculous. No one who voted leave was aware of what the implications would mean, and still don't. I am personally always willing to accept the will of the majority but only when that majority if based on full knowledge of what the issues actually were in detail, not some airy fairy yes/no without any idea of what the final implications are.

EU bosses are making it hard because they are frightened that others will follow us and leave and they lose their grip on power.

Who will you blame for a no-deal Brexit?

David Cameron.

Who will you blame for Brexit?

Cameron. Where has he gone?

Samantha Cameron's face said it all when she had to leave no 10.

  x123 20:29 23 Jul 2018

Ed Miliband should shoulder some if the blame. If he hadn't eaten that bacon sandwich, we might not have had a referendum. He might have been PM.

I think that it's the best move we could make.

Get out a.s.a.p.

It's falling apart anyway

Only people to blame would be the bureaucrats in Brussels, a bunch of unelected thieving elitists who are scared stiff that seeing UK outside the EU and surviving will galvanise more countries into leaving. The EU is dying and the sooner it expires the better.
