suffered some sort of trauma in their lives?

Surely it's not their PR teams simply jumping on the bandwagon.

Perhaps you need a trauma to become a "so called celebrity" .

Of course the media aren't interested in normal peoples trauma's anyway so you don't here so much about them.

I suppose some of them lead a hectic even dangerous sort of life what with fast cars, drugs and too much alcohol. Sex, drugs and rock and roll can be hard going

Lots of ordinary people suffer traumatic events but we don't usually hear about them, as Fruit Bat /\0/\ says.

Celebrities live their lives in the spotlight - they wouldn't be celebrities otherwise - and as a consequence we read about them and see them on TV, so we know what happens to them. They also court publicity, and it has become fashionable for them to do 'warts and all' interviews, recounting the ups and downs of their lives.

"Surely it's not their PR teams simply jumping on the bandwagon."

Although I do agree with the FE I'm sure, in at least some cases, that is happening.

Some of the Tory wannabees were 'at it' today at the Birminghan Tory party Conference, namely Javid, Raab and McVey - all had very hard upbringings. I nearly shed a tear laughing.

All jockeying for leadership of the Party or in McVey's case trying to keep her job.
