Sound Card installed... Hard drive stops working??

Hi All,

I just installed Sound Blaster X AE5 into my Asus X299 Strix Mobo. Everything was fine. Restarted computer and was told that certain PCIE slots would be disabled.. didn't think anything of it. Now my mechanical Hard drive wont work.... Any suggestions?

Currently have i9 7900x, 1080 TI GPU, 32 BG Ram (4 slot), 2 X M.2 storage (both working fine) and have just recently installed the sound card in the PCIEX4 slot on the mobo.

Any help or suggestions? Bios cant even see the Hard drive …

what happens when you remove the card?

The mist likely cause is that you have dislodged a cable somewhere

The manual suggests that the PCIe x4 slot (in x4 mode) shares bandwidth with SATA_5/6 & 7/8.

Enabling the PCIe x4 slot also disables PCIe x16_3

SATA1 may also be disabled if M.21 is a SATA device.

The solution might be to move the HDD to SATA_2/3/4
